Department Vision
As the United Arab Emirates takes an interest in developing its human capital through educating and training its citizens, the ECSSR under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi seeks to play an active and significant role in achieving this goal by preparing advanced training programs aimed at not only refining the skills of its cadre of well-educated nationals but also by actively promoting the professional development of UAE nationals working in other government agencies. To achieve these goals, the Center established a modern Training Center with highly qualified staff and equipped with computer labs and modern classrooms.
Department Strategy
The strategy of the Department of Training and Continuous Development depends primarily on meeting the real needs of trainees inside and outside the Center; this is done through planning training programs that cover a wide range of topics. The Department’s main objective is to deliver effective and highly efficient training activities with the aim of:
- reinforcing ECSSR’s primary principles and values
- improving the performance of ECSSR employees
- facilitating a learning and continuous improvement culture
Department Programs

The Scientific Research Diploma (SRD) [+ / -]

The SRD is a full-time, eight-month, academic program that trains UAE nationals at ECSSR and from other government agencies to conduct scientific research in the political, economic, social and military fields. SRD Admission Criteria
The candidate should:
- be a UAE national
- have at least a bachelor degree
- work in the government sector

The Diploma in Management [+ / -]
|
The Department of Training and Continuous development developed the Diploma in Management which includes 22 courses, with 480 training hours. This program is designed to prepare Emirati nationals and non nationals for management positions in the Center. It provides trainees with the basic concepts and applications of successful and effective management practices, such as planning, organization, leadership and control, principles of financial and managerial accounting, and project management.

DIM Admission Criteria
The candidate should:
- be a UAE national
- have at least a bachelor degree
- work in the government sector

The Diploma in Administration [+ / -]
|
The Department of Training and Continuous development developed the Diploma in Office Administration which includes 13 courses, with 600 training hours. This program is designed for administrative staff with the objective to improve their office administrative and secretarial skills.

The Department of Training and Continuous Development aims at developing and implementing the highest quality of standards in training delivery. It also aims at supporting ECSSR core principles and values, as well as meeting the changing training needs of the Center. To this end, the department places great emphasis on creating an environment that encourages learning and continuous improvement through designing and implementing a variety of internal specialized training programs, such as:
- Applied Policy Research Program
The Department of Training and Continuous Development designed a complete training program with a focus on applied research in policy making. This program aims at improving trainees’ professional skills in designing research projects, report writing, and policy proposals that are related to their areas of interest. This program includes the following units:

- Arabic Language for Non Arabic Speakers Program
The Department designed an Arabic Language program for non-Arabic speakers. This program aims at providing trainees with the four basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It also aims at improving their skills in writing business letters and official memos in formal, modern Arabic.
- Computer Application Programs
The Department regularly organizes training programs with the aim to improve the ECSSR employees’ basic skills in computer applications.
- Arab and English Language Programs
The Department regularly organizes training programs in Arabic and English languages to improve the language skills of the ECSSR employees.
- The Certificate in Diplomatic Studies
In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Training and Continuous Development designed the Certificate in Diplomatic Studies Program, which includes nine units – 720 hours. This program is designed to prepare young Emiratis for a career in diplomacy.
